The book stated, that in a survey conducted with 1600 active Christians in Europe, 80% could not identify their spirtual gifts.
I would guess it is not a whole lot different here.
The book states when we serve in our area of giftedness, with the power of the Holy Spirit, ordinary people can accomplish the extraordinary. I would think this is a key element in the quality of our service. It seems odd that we don't try harder to identify the gifts of our members and match them with our ministries. On the other hand, when classes are offered to the congregation to discover their spiritual gifts, my experince has been that less than 20% participate. Do the other 80% not care or are they afraid?
Since no one commented last week, I thought I would try again. I also had some additional thoughts on this subject. The book stated that there is a direct relationship between using our gifts and the joy of living. Doesn't it then seem logical that these same people would be enthusiastic about another quality characteristic "Passionate Spirituality". Maybe if we helped individuals identify and use their unique spirtual gifts in the Body of Christ, we would also address passionate spirtuality. We could kill two birds with one stone. ????????????????????????????
